Event Grant Update: Nyora Raceway Junior Challenge
On Saturday May 7 2011, Nyora Raceway held the inaugural Nyora Grass Roots Racing Challenge for the ASCF 1200 Juniors.
Nyora Raceway were awarded a Speedway Australia Grass Roots for the event to help promote participation in Speedway Racing.
The event was aimed at "B Class" juniors to make the racing as accessible and as fun as possible and pitted 7 young drivers against one another. Among the invited juniors was Nyora's' own Donald Young, Lachie Reeves, Brendan Miller, Brody Norton, Shane Younger, Michael Skene and Chevy Edwards.
The drivers had three heats and a final, with every driver putting in a solid performance.
Lachie Reeves in the AV37 Daihatsu Charade took the win on the night, followed by Brendan Miller and Donald Young.
Brody Norton was close by, followed by Shane Younger, Michael Skene and then Chevy Edwards.
The drivers all received a prize pack that contained Kincrome spanners, s Stanley screwdriver set, a bucket with a sponge, degreaser and car wash, plus a trophy to commemorate the night.
The track prep crew did a fantastic job on the track, and the drivers were all praised by the stewards for the racing quality they provided on the night.
Nyora Raceway Inc would like to thank Speedway Australia for the Grant that was provided to host the event, and also thank the Juniors that attended for a great night's entertainment.
