Online Licensing: What It Means To You
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions that you may be asked in the near future as the 2011/12 season approaches.
How far away is the Online Licensing System from being ready?
The Online Licensing System is currently in the development and testing phase.
We’ll be thoroughly testing the system for the next 1-2 weeks prior to allowing public access.
We expect the online system to be live and accepting applications by July 2011.
Can I still apply for a licence if I don’t have a computer or access to the Internet?
Of course! Speedway Australia will still be accepting paper application forms this season, and for the next several seasons.
Unfortunately, applying manually will mean you are not eligible for the $10 online discount.
What If I don’t have a credit card?
No problem! You can apply for your licence online, and opt to pay by cheque, which you may post in with a printed copy of your licence application received confirmation email.
I’m not great with computers – is the process confusing?
We’ve tried to make the online application process as simple and user friendly as possible. Applying online is just like filling out a paper form, except you’ll be typing your details directly onto the computer.
If you’re still having difficulty, you’ll be able to find a walkthrough guide at speedwayaustralia.net.au and in the 2011/12 Speedway Handbook (available in July).
I usually apply and pay at my club – can I still do that?
Of course!
Your club is more than welcome to apply for a licence online on your behalf.
If in the past you have passed on a paper application to your club and paid them your money, you can continue to do the same thing, and your club may apply online for you.
If I apply through my club, does the $10 discount still apply?
Absolutely! The $10 saving will apply to any licence application that is entered via the online system from outside of Speedway Australia’s Head Office.
Your club may charge an administration cost for submitting your application – you should check with your individual club to see if this applies.
Will my licence get posted back to me directly?
No, your licence card will still be returned to you via your nominated association or club.
For a licence to be valid you must hold a valid club membership. Your association or club will complete the final step of licence approval for you when you collect your licence card.
Is using my credit card over the Internet safe?
Paying for your licence online is as safe as payments can be.
Your details are protected by an SSL Certificate on a high-security server, and are sent encrypted to the bank’s payment gateway.
Your credit card details are NOT stored in any database and are ‘forgotten’ immediately after payment has been completed.
You will also receive a confirmation of payment screen, with a transaction number upon submitting your application, and a confirmation email for piece of mind.
How long will it take to get my licence card?
Applicants should allow a MINIMUM of 5-10 business days for their licence application to be processed.
Applicants should also note that in cases where a medical or photo must be supplied, submitting invalid or unsuitable documents will delay their application.
If you require your licence card in less than 5 days, you will be required to pay the $75 Fast Track Fee at the time of application.
How long will my licence be valid for?
Your licence will now be valid for a FULL 12 months from the date of issue. Gone are the days of a July 1 – June 30 licence.
The Speedway Australia Online Licensing System will send you an email prior to your licence’s expiry date to remind you to renew your licence before it runs out - so please ensure we have your current email address.
Bear in mind that your licence will only be valid with an applicable club membership, so make sure you’re up to date with your club when you collect your card.
If In Doubt?
If you aren’t sure of something, or aren’t confident enough to use the online system, your club will be able to help you every step of the way to get your application in and processed as quickly as possible.
Make sure you put your email address on your form when applying to your club, and we’ll email that nominated email address when we’ve received the application, and when we have posted it to your club. We’ll be keeping you informed every step of the way!
