Speedway Australia Requesting New Open Wheel Junior Category
Speedway Australia, the national peak body for speedway racing, is requesting submissions for a new national “open-wheeler” junior category to be recognised and operating for the upcoming summer season of 2011-12.
It has been identified that there is a significant gap for open wheeler junior categories in speedway, with JQMA the only option currently available. Whilst the junior sedan divisions are stronger than ever, there is a need to ensure there are good options for those wishing to move through the open wheeler ranks before racing in the faster senior divisions.
“It is vital that juniors wanting to compete in speedway racing have the choice to compete in either an open wheeled category or a sedan category,” says Paul Trengove – Competition & Operations Manager.
“Sedan junior categories have gone from strength to strength in the recent years. It is now important that we also ensure there are suitable and competitive open wheeled junior options that will give our young stars the opportunity to develop race craft and learn and understand car setup before they enter the senior divisions.“
Speedway Australia is asking interested parties to submit a submission for a new national open-wheeled junior category whilst addressing the following:
- Objective of the new junior division
- Car Specifications
- Photos / Images of proposed new junior car
- New or existing committee structure for division
- Driver Ages / Restrictions
- Affordability / Maintenance Costs
- Any associated training programs
- Any other information
Submissions need to be received by the Speedway Australia Head Office no later than Friday 31st July 2011 and the successful submission will be determined by the Speedway Australia Board.
Please forward your submissions to the Competition & Operations Manager as detailed belowdetails below.
