McFadden Captures Speedweek Crown, Leads Driver Championship To Kick Start 2012
Former Australian Sprintcar Champion James McFadden has won 6 out of 8 World Series Sprintcars rounds to capture the Speedweek Championship and take a commanding series lead into 2012.
After emerging victorious from an intense battle with Jason Johnson and reigning champion Robbie Farr in Brisbane's round 1, no one expected the 22 year old McFadden to rattle off another 5 wins by the end of Speedweek.
Despite the intense competition and one of the strongest driver lineups in series history, McFadden has done exactly that, collecting over $50,000 in prize money so far.
McFadden's nearest rival on the championship table is another youngster, SA's Steven Lines, who despite not winning a round has appeared on the podium 4 times in the Monster Energy car.
Australian Champion Brooke Tatnell has climbed to third position after a slow start, followed by reiging champion Robbie Farr and Jason Johnson rounding out the top 5.
The series continues this weekend (January 6 & 7) at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway when round 9 of the Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars Championship coincides with the prestigious Australian Sprintcar Open.
Competitors will then return to Speedway City on January 14 for round 10 before embarking on the western swing of the series in February.
