2010/11 Rising Stars Have Bright Futures Ahead
The Speedway Australia Rising Star Program is designed to assist talented young drivers build toward their racing potential. During 2011, the current crop of Rising Stars enjoyed much success in their respective racing categories and are looking ahead to bright futures in 2012.
As a major component of the program, the Rising Stars travelled to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra for an intensive 3 day athlete development program in March 2011. While at the camp, participants managed to match and in some cases outperform AIS athletes from other sports.
Of the 8 2010/11 Rising Stars, several realised their dreams by travelling to the USA to race or work with Speedway teams, many were able to emerge victorious at state titles and other major race meetings, and each of the drivers have used what they learnt during the program to further their careers by embracing media, technology and enhancing their profile.
High achievers Sam Putland and Daniel Harding have also used their success as Rising Stars to launch their own teams in sprintcar classes, Putland in 360 Sprintcars, Harding in 410 Sprintcars.
Once again in 2012, Speedway Australia has selected 8 talented young Speedway drivers to become Speedway Australia Rising Stars. Stay tuned to speedwayaustralia.net.au in the coming weeks as the participants in the 2012 program are announced.
