Wigzell Captures Australian Wingless Sprint Championship
-- via www.awsr.com.au
South Australian Todd Wigzell has claimed victory in the 2012 Australian Wingless Sprints Championship at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway. Wigzell led every one of the thirty laps to win the crown, and was never challenged in the stoppage-filled affair.
Wigzell had it all his own way, never really striking any problems. In fact, all finishers completed the full race distance so lapped traffic was not a problem for Wigzell.
Second to the chequered flag was young Daniel Keen from Western Australia. Keen, like Wigzell, filled the runner-up position for the entire distance. He did however, have to fight off challenges lap after lap from Kyle Pollock. Unfortunately for Pollock, he looped the machine in the back straight in sight of the finish line.
Third place was Joel Rhind. Rhind drove a great race, battling with Pollock and Scotty Elst from WA for the majority of the race before settling into third with four laps remaining. Rhind never fell out of the top five and drove a good, calculated race.
