Brittany Armstrong Wins ABC HEYWIRE Award
Junior Sedan competitor, Brittany Armstrong of Casino in New South Wales was recently announced as a 2011 ABC HEYWIRE Award Winner for her story entitled, "Go Hard, Turn Left".
HEYWIRE is an annual competition for young (aged 16-22) people from regional Australia, calling for stories about themselves and the community where they live.
Each year, the best stories that have been uploaded to the HEYWIRE website are chosen to be broadcast across the ABC on Triple J, Radio National and Local Radio.
The winning entrants (roughly 40) also get the chance to go to the HEYWIRE Regional Youth Summit in Canberra in February, all expenses paid.
Since 1998, the annual HEYWIRE Regional Youth Summit has brought together emerging leaders from regional Australia to develop ideas to improve life for young people in their communities.
Brittany is looking to study pharmacy in the years ahead, loves the community spirit displayed during the annual Beef Week festival in Casino and wants to motivate rural towns to attract young professionals.
