The V8 Dirt Modified community lost one of its finest on Saturday night, with the sudden passing of Dirt Modifieds Australia President (DMA) Paul Britten.
Paul, 44, became part of the V8 Dirt Modified family during the 2007/08 season, fielding a car for son Peter after the pair had enjoyed some success in the AMCA National ranks. Soon after, Peter was joined on track by younger brother Kevin.
While both Peter and Kevin Britten's successes are well documented, it was behind the scenes that Paul Britten made his mark.
He served as President of the DMA since 2009 and was instrumental in the administration of the division at all levels. He was also an active member of the Queensland V8 Dirt Modified club. As an administrator, he raised the bar in terms of professionalism, with his sole focus being on the advancement of V8 Dirt Modifieds at all levels and for the betterment of all competitors.
His passion for V8 Dirt Modifieds, his vision and his dedication were unmatched.
Paul leaves behind his wife Jane, and sons Peter, Kevin & Daniel and their respective partners. He will be laid to rest after a funeral ceremony on Monday.
Speedway Australia sends their sincere condolences to Jane, Peter, Kevin & Daniel on the passing of a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
