Michael Hamon Captures 2012 Australian Street Stock Championship
Michael Hamon of Western Australia has captured the 2012 Repco Australian Street Stock Title at the Northline Speedway in Darwin.
Harmon, also winner of the 2008 Street Stock Championship, was joined on the podium by Mick Dann of Victoria and Steven Gartner of South Australia.
Harmon inherited the lead when race leader Jamie Oldfield was forced to retire.
Oldield's car developed an oil fire under the bonnet as a result of contact with a lapped car just 3 laps from the finish.
Oldfield (and Steven Gartner, 3rd) qualified from the B Main earlier in the evening and started from the back row, impressively negotiating traffic to charge through the field.
Defending Australian Champion Brad McClure finished ninth.
