Maryborough Speedway To Honour Kurt Murdoch Through Mary 1000
Following the tragic and untimely passing of local competitor Kurt Murdoch, Maryborough Speedway will honour Kurt by renaming their annual Street Sedan 50 lap race to the 'Kurt Murdoch Mary 1000'.
Kurt was an avid Speedway competitor, never missing a race meeting at the Maryborough venue. The youngster began his career in Junior Sedans before graduating to Street Sedans, and then Super Street Sedans, racing at Maryborough, Gympie and Kingaroy.
The inaugural Kurt Murdoch Mary 1000 will be held on June 9th and 10th 2012, with a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner. Kurt's mother Dosalee will ride as a passenger in Kurt's car, driven by Richard Bronson.
Speedway Australia would like to extend its sincere sympathies to Kurt's family, fiancee, friends and the Maryborough community.
