Speedway Australia Rising Star Brendan Guerin Primed For Big Year
2012 Speedway Australia Rising Star Brendan Guerin is expecting to travel more than 25,000km during the 12/13 racing season, competing across SA, Victoria and WA in the 360 and 410 Sprintcar categories.
Based out of Broken Hill, Brendan and the 7 Day Spares Race Team are confident they can build on a successful 11/12 campaign that saw the youngster claim Australia 3 in the 360 Sprintcar category.
“We’ll be basing most of our racing in South Australia this year, with a few visits to Victoria for the 360 All-Stars Series,” said Guerin. “All being well we will then head to Western Australia in April for the 360 Australian Title and hopefully finish even better than last year’s Australia 3!”
“Thanks to the generous support of Pete, Kathleen and Scott of Maxwill Race Engines, we’ll also be competing at several 410 Sprintcar meetings this season.”
The team will be well prepared for their travels across the country, with a new chassis and equipment, new paint schemes and a refreshed transporter.
“My Eagle Chassis from last year has been sold, so the 7 Day Spares Race Team will be bolting together an ex-McFadden Eagle Chassis for me that my father ran for 8 meetings 2 years ago.”
“The engine will be fresh from a rebuild and better than ever thanks to the hard working team at Maxwill’s, the transporter has had some work done inside and both cars will have a fresh paint scheme,” continued Guerin.
“We’ll also continue on with crew chief Darren Baker, who brings over 20 years of Speedway experience to the team.”
Thanks to the Speedway Australia Rising Star Program’s AIS Camp, Guerin has also taken a range of information on board to help raise his game in 12/13.
“There were so many thing I took from the AIS camp,” reported Guerin, “but I think the core strength training and lessons in nutrition and hydration will really help with competing in the hot weather over summer and longer races.”
Brendan also thanked his sponsors for their valuable contributions.
“I’d like to thank my generous supporters, Peter and Mark at Century Batteries, Paul and Trish at Jade Signs, Lindsay and Miss Pat at Broken Hill Heavy Haulage Towing, Rick and Dave at Mocare Australia (AutoKing), Mark at Penrite Oils and the team at 7 Day Spares and Accessories.”
