87 Cars Join The Action At Shark Bay's 25th Annual Far Western Championship
87 cars arrived to compete at the 25th annual Far Western Championship on July 14 2012 at the Shark Bay Speedway Club. The event was proudly supported by Speedway Australia with a Grass Roots Event Grant.
The blue ribbon event featured 5 racing classes throughout the day, beginning with a field of 19 Junior Sedans.
The junior competitors, commended for their sportsmanship and talent, were led home by Tyler Vanzetti in first place, followed by Liam Hambley and Sean Bowen to round out the pdoium.
20 Street Stocks then took to the track, with 18 progressing to the feature race later in the day. The main event for Street Stocks was taken out by Daniel Pidala, followed by Damon Lyall and Australian Champion, Michael Hamon.
The largest class of the day was Production Sedans, where 30 cars were pitted against one another. Barry Rose won the feature race for the second consecutive year, followed by Greg Robinson and Matt Noakes.
Graeme Sweeney led home a field of 7 in the Modified Production class, followed by John Standring and Zane Mogg before Sprintcars took centre stage.
11 Sprintcars roared around the Shark Bay venue, with the feature race being taken out by Michael McInnes. Robbie Stevens and Mick Doble completed the podium.
Natasha Baker of Shark Bay Speedway was thrilled with the event's success.
