Speedway Safety Advisory Committee Welcomes Geoff Murphy
Speedway Safety Advisory Committee members Gary Pendlebury and Greg Foster have been re-elected to their positions for a 3 year term.
Long serving member Ken Small (Queensland) has stepped down from his position on the committee, and will be replaced by Geoff Murphy of Western Australia.
Speedway Australia and the SSAC would like to thank Ken for his tireless efforts during his time on the committee. Ken continues to serve as Chairperson of Speedway Queensland.
Geoff Murphy has been involved in motorsport for most of his life, during which time he has served as the Chief Scrutineer at Wanneroo Park (now known as Barbagallo Raceway) for 15 years, the SCCA National President and the SAWA President (20 years, Life Member).
Geoff has been making racing chassis for 40 years, including Formula 500s, Quarter Midgets, Speedcars and Sprintcars, many of which have been won Australian Championships.
He was also elected into the Australian Speedway Hall of Fame in 2011 and is a member of the Claremont Speedway Hall of Fame.
Speedway Australia is honoured to have a person of Geoff's experience serving on the Speedway Safety Advisory Committee over the next 3 years. The SSAC is designed to liaise closely with national and international technical associations and provide safety reports at the Speedway Australia National Safety Conference.
