NASR Rising Star: Kevin Britten
NASR is proud to announce the third participant to be selected for the 2011 NASR Rising Star Program, Kevin Britten of Queensland.
Kevin started his Speedway career later than our first 2 NASR Rising Stars, debuting in a Junior Sigma at the age of 12 at Brisbane International Speedway. Britten continued piloting his Sigma until age 16, emerging as a Queensland and Australian Champion along the way.
In 2009, Kevin embarked on a V8 Dirt Modified career in the competitive Queensland Club Championship. After a difficult start to his Dirt Modified season, Kevin found some form when elder brother, Peter, departed for America. Kevin raced well in the Rooster’s Cup Final at Lismore and eventually finished 3rd overall in the series.
Kevin pocketed the club Rookie Of The Year Award, the Lismore Track Championship and managed to win the 50-lap ‘Mr Modified’ race as well as finishing 10th in the Australian Title (both also at Lismore).
Kevin aspires to be the V8 Dirt Modified Australian Champion and will use his time at the AIS in Canberra to learn more about how to physically and mentally prepare himself for racing and how to handle his media responsibilities.
In 2011, The NASR Rising Star Program will give the opportunity for young drivers to improve themselves in a range of areas including fitness training, psychology and marketing and media training, which will assist them in formulating a pathway to achieve their speedway dream.
Stay tuned to www.nasr.com.au over the coming weeks as we introduce the rest of the 2011 NASR Rising Stars.
