Rising Star: Sam Putland
NASR is proud to announce the eighth participant to be selected for the 2011 NASR Rising Star Program, Sam Putland of Woodside, South Australia.
Sam began racing Karts in 2003 and has been a Speedway competitor since 2007, racing in a Lightning Sprint. Sam continues to race Karts during the Speedway offseason to improve his skills.
During the 2008/09 Season Sam won 2 Feature Races out of 12 attempts and finished on the podium multiple times. In 2009/10 Sam followed up his impressive results by winning the Challenge Series and finishing second in the South Australian Title.
Sam hopes to use his time as a NASR Rising Star to help him gain the tools and knowledge necessary to take the next step in racing and eventually become a successful 410 Sprintcar driver and compete in World Series Sprintcars.
In 2011, The NASR Rising Star Program will give the opportunity for young drivers to improve themselves in a range of areas including fitness training, psychology and marketing and media training, which will assist them in formulating a pathway to achieve their speedway dream.
