Rising Star Sam Putland Carries Form Into Bordertown
With 3 rounds left to race in the Lightning Sprints SA Challenge Series, NASR Rising Star Sam Putland has used a round 3 win to take a 45-point series lead.
The series continues in Bordertown this Saturday night, where Sam will be searching for back-to-back wins.
After his Speedway City feature race win last weekend, Sam carries good form into the event.
Sam will compete in the Lightning Sprints SA State Title in Mount Gambier this month and the Victorian State Title in Avalon.
“Over the next month I really want to win the State title. I finished second last year, so I would love to improve that result. I will then head to Victoria to run at the Victorian State Title at Avalon Speedway. I am hoping for a good result competing against unknown competitors at a new track.”
Sam will also attend the NASR Rising Star AIS camp next week in Canberra.
“I am really looking forward to learning more about what’s required and to improve on specific areas that will help me become a more professional driver. I am very greatful to NASR for the opportunity to be a part of this program, it’s exciting for young drivers in this country to get this chance.”
Round 5 of the Lightning Sprints SA Challenge Series will be held on April 2 before the series concludes on April 23. Sam will be searching for his second consecutive Challenge Series championship amongst a hectic race schedule.
“My busy race schedule wouldn’t be possible without my parents’ support with Dad (Barry) being my crew chief and Mum always there for support. Rob Crouch is always looking after the racecar engines and his knowledge of this category is so important for my race team. The ongoing support of Fuchs Oils also helps me to compete across the country.”
