Daniel Harding Wins WA Formula 500 Title
West Australian young gun Daniel Harding showed all of the attributes that made him a NASR Rising Star last weekend when capturing the Formula 500 State Championship at Narrogin Speedway.
Harding won all 3 of his heat races and started the event's Feature Race from pole position.
Front row partner Steven Ellement got the jump on Harding to start the race, holding the young challenger at bay for the opening 7 laps.
Daniel's time at the Australian Institute of Sport helped him remain calm and in control.
"I used the assessment I received from leading Sports Physcologist Vicki de Prazer at the AIS, and I put her suggestions into action as I analized the race and resolved not to panic. I kept reminding myself to stay calm and time my race, rather than risk everything early and make a mistake."
Daniel made the pass on lap 8 and went on to win the Feature Race by the length of the front straight.
"I couldn’t have won without the help of my Mum and Dad and crew chief Geoff Murphy." Daniel commented. "The continued support of Tucker Time for Pets, Racin' Tyres and Accessories and Jolly Good Autos has been excellent."
Daniel will now take a 3 week break to savour his victory and recuperate. After a short series of club shows at Perth Motorplex, the Rising Star will head east for the Australian Formula 500 Championship in Goulbourn over the Easter long weekend.
