Event Grant Update: NSW 4 Cylinder Sedans
Speedway Australia is proud to report that the Speedway Australia supported event, Round 2 of the 'Falcones Bread' NSW 4 Cylinder Sedan Series, was held at Surfair Speedway, Moruya in January this year. The race meeting helped to raise the profile of and the promotion of grass roots participation in Speedway.
On a night that was continuously plagued by light rain, some very exciting door-to-door racing was produced on a smooth Moruya track surface. Rain continued to fall after the event's six qualifying heats. As a result, officials deemed the surface to be too dangerous to race on and the 20 Lap feature race was unfortunately cancelled.
Round 2 of the NSW 4 Cylinder Sedan Series was visiting Surfair Speedway for the first time and despite the premature event finish, race organisers considered the event a success.
Over 300 spectators attended the event and 43 drivers participated.
At the conclusion of heat racing, Tim Wonson topped the points, followed by Mandi Roy and Mark Lavin.
