Event Grant Update: Queensland Microsprints
Speedway Australia is proud to report that the Speedway Australia supported event, run by the Queensland Microsprint Club in Kingaroy, has helped to raise the profile of and the promotion of grass roots participation in Speedway.
The Queensland Microsprints visited Kingaroy Speedway for the first time in a number of years on May 1 2011. The Club was looking to make a good impression on the large crowd on hand, and that they did.
The Club was warmly welcomed not only by the South Burnett Speedway but the locals also who were allowed into the pit area to meet the drivers at the end if the night.
As part of the promotional grant received from Speedway Australia (NASR at the time), stickers, posters and caps were given to the crowd as they mingled with the drivers.
Club President Tony Norton noted that the QLD Microsprint had made a concerted effort to travel to country areas such as Kingaroy and Grafton in the 2010/11 season. These trips were not only promote the Microsprint Class, but take speedway to the country areas that truly appreciate the racing, but may not always get the opportunity to witness it first hand.
The Queensland Microsprint Club has every intention of travelling again and more in the 2011/12 season.
Overall it was a great success with every likelihood that the QLD Microsprint has attracted new members for the 2011/12 year.
