Rising Stars Season Recap: Kevin Britten
Kevin Britten's 2010-11 racing season was dampened by frequent rain-outs in Queensland. Despite difficulties, the youngster has taken many positives from his season and if focussing on improving his results in 2011-12.
Out of 27 race meetings Kevin attempted to compete at, 14 were called off prematurely due to inclement weather. In the remaining 13 meeting, Britten displayed the talent that made him a 2011 Rising Star by qualifying for feature races at every meeting.
Kevin posted encouraging form at the V8 Dirt Modified Australian Title, qualifying third at the end of night 1 behind eventual winner Peter Britten and former NSSS Champion, Matty Pascoe.
Disappointingly, Kevin retired from both heats on night 2, placing him only 10th on the grid in the feature race where he failed to gain positions.
Kevin remains optimistic about the upcoming season:
"I think I improved my speed and my understanding of car setup this season, which helped me to earn lap records at Brisbane and Lismore.
"I'll be really looking to use those skills to capitalise on my opportunities next year and turn them into Feature Race wins."
For now, the young Queenslander is concentrating on building a new car over the offseason that will help him to a flying start in 2011-12.
Kevin would like to thank JBR Motorsport, Troyer Racecars, Sport Engines, Adamsville Maintenance, Paul and Jane Britten and his Crew Chief Luke Armstrong for their continued support.
