

Speedway Safety Advisory Committee (SSAC)
The Speedway Australia Speedway Safety Advisory Committee (SSAC) was formed in 2006 to give advice and provide guidelines to the Speedway Australia Board on relevant aspects of safety and competition regulation in Australian Speedway.
It is designed to liaise closely with national and international technical associations and provide safety reports at the Speedway Australia National Safety Conference.

Greg Foster
Greg Foster is the Sprintcar Control Council of Australia (SCCA) National Technical Officer and is also the operator of D&F Racing Products and Fosters Chassis based in Victoria, which has won 3 Manufacturer of the Year Awards.
Foster has been involved in speedway since 1979 and is also currently a scrutineer for the Speedway Racing Association of Victoria (SRA) and State delegate to the SCCA.
David Conlin
David Conlin joins the committee from Dirt Modified Australia as their National Technical Officer and has over 43 years experience behind the wheel as well as constructing race cars.
Des Alfirevich
Des Alfirevich is a qualified automotive engineer with over 36 years of involvement in motor sport including 10 years operating a company supplying safety apparel. He has held technical positions at the State level with the WASCF and WASDA (Speedcars).
Des was one of the key people involved with the development of Junior Sedan racing in WA. Des is also a Commissioner of the West Australian Speedway Commission (WASC), Chairman of the WASC Safety and Regulation Committee, and Chairman of Speedway Australia (WA).
Paul Plater
Paul Plater, from the Victorian vintage movement, is a Metallurgical Engineer with a Bachelor of Metallurgical Engineering (first class honours) and Masters of Business Administration.
Plater has extensive knowledge in materials testing, welding, risk management plus OH&S. He has restored 2 Classic Sprintcars and enjoys driving at various demonstration events.
Damien Wise
Damien is a South Australian who replaces the retiring Peter Schloithe.
Damien has a background of being involved in the sport both as a keen spectator and competitor. Damien spent 16 years in the Australian Army as an Electronic Technician and then later on as an Avionics Technician working on with the Army’s helicopters and fixed wing fleet. As part of his roles in both ADF he has been involved in low level investigating and reporting of defect on aircraft parts and military equipment, while also completing all courses in Safety Hazard occurrence and OHS.
Damien brings a great knowledge of safety issues from a different angle and with his passion for speedway is a great fit for the SSAC going forward.
Gary Pendlebury
Gary has promoted Speedway for over 10 years. Gary is a National Steward for the SCCA and World Series Sprintcars.
He has developed and provided training courses in driving and riding in Australia and overseas and has established and implemented risk reduction policies for police motor vehicle accidents.
Guy Thompson
Guy Thompson has built and raced Super Sedans throughout Australia and managed the reconstruction of the safety fence at Latrobe Speedway, plus had major input to construction methods used.
Thompson’s extensive involvement in speedway includes being a board member of the Latrobe Speedway.
Geoff Murphy
Geoff Murphy has been involved in motrosport for the past 20 years, during which time he has served as the Chief Scrutineer at Wanneroo Park (now known as Barbagallo Raceway) for 15 years, the SCCA National President and the SAWA President (20 years, Life Member).
Geoff has been making racing chassis for 40 years, including Formula 500s, Quarter Midgets, Speedcars and Sprintcars, many of which have been won Australian Championships.
Geoff was also elected into the Australian Speedway Hall of Fame in 2011 and is a member of the Claremont Speedway Hall of Fame.
Shane Collins
Shane commenced his role as Risk Management Officer in October 2010. Prior to commencing employment at Speedway Australia, Shane has been Race Director for World Series Sprintcars for a number of years.
Shane has a love of all sports and a passion for Speedway that stems from his childhood. Shane possesses a thorough knowledge of Speedway racing that proves invaluable as Risk Management Officer.
